Canadian Manufacturer Setting Up Shop In Gas City

Canada-based AVG North America Inc. is locating its first U.S. operation in Grant County in a move that will create a small number of jobs. The automotive accessories manufacturer is set to begin production and shipping from the former Custom Assemblies building in Gas City this week.

The Grant County Economic Growth Council says the manufacturing facility will product automotive accessories, including interior and exterior lighting, kick plates, tailgate power locks and rearview mirrors. AVG is adding 12 jobs with its investment in Grant County and plans to grow employment by the end of the year.

“AVG is excited to launch its US facility in Grant County,” said Ayaz Somani, chief executive officer of AVG Group. “Being in close proximity to our customer and supplier facilities in neighboring states, Grant County offers a highly skilled workforce as well as access to one of the best logistics hubs in the country. We look forward to aggressively growing our business at our new US hub, and enjoying a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the local government, the business community and the people of Indiana.”

AVG provides accessories to a number of automotive clients, including General Motors, Nissan, Infiniti, Lexus, Toyota, Hyundai and Kia. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Thursday at the facility, hosted by the Gas City Area Chamber of Commerce.
